Request for Information (RFI)
A formal request from council or a certifier asking for extra detail or clarification before they can decide your application.
A Request for Information (RFI) is a written notice from council or a certifier asking you to provide extra details, amended plans or specialist reports so they can properly assess your DA or CDC. Common RFIs seek clarification on levels, overshadowing, car parking, stormwater, heritage impacts or bushfire and flooding matters. Time spent responding to an RFI usually pauses the assessment clock, so delays in replying can drag out approval timeframes. A clear, complete response helps avoid further rounds of questions.
What does it mean for my project?
Pauses the clock; delays if you respond slowly; can trigger design changes.
What do I need to think about?
Reply within the timeframe, reference the DA number, and provide clear revisions.
Examples where it might impact a project
Council requests a BAL report and updated shadow diagrams.
